Leadership & Professional Service

Donna's involvement in the field has included leadership positions with ATRA as the co-chair of the Community Inclusion Network and a member and a co-chair of the Quality Internship Supervisor Training Committee. She has also been involved with NCTRC as an item writer, item reviewer, a member of the Exam Management Committee, and a member of the Board of Directors. Donna has also served on the advisory boards for a number of university TR/RT programs and has regularly been a guest speaker in various classrooms.

Professional Awards & Recognition

In her 24 years as the internship coordinator, Donna has supervised and mentored over 200 TR/RT students. She has presented at various state, regional, and national conferences and workshops over the past 30 years and has contributed articles relating to interventions, internship, and adult day services to local and national newsletters and professional journals. Donna was recognized as the Colorado Therapeutic Recreation Professional of the year in 2014 and as the ATRA 2024 Frank T. Basile Clinician of the Year. Donna was selected as a NART Fellow in 2023.
