Empowering the Next Generation of Recreational Therapy Scholars

The NART Future Scholars Program

Application Deadline: 11:59 pm (EDT), May 22, 2026

Eligibility Requirements

  • Current master’s student or masters-level graduate

  • Planning to start a PhD in Recreational Therapy within 2 years

  • Aspiring to an academic career as a researcher or educator

  • CTRS/LRT (or on track) and a current ATRA member

  • Able to attend the upcoming ATRA Annual Conference


Selection Criteria:  Academic record, credentials, scholarly potential, commitment to doctoral study, professionalism

Award Benefits and Opportunities

  • Up to $1,000 to attend ATRA Annual Conference

  • Mentorship from leading scholars

  • National networking opportunities

  • Participation in ATRA conversations

  • Develop & present an ATRA webinar with a mentor

Application Process

  • Review the full application packet

  • Prepare a cover letter, resume/CV, and academic transcripts

  • Request a letter of support

  • Submit your complete application package by the deadline

  • Await notification from the NART Future Scholars Program Committee
