Scholarly Contributions
Dr. Craig’s research focuses on the impact of TR interventions, adaptive sports, and health promotion programs on health and quality of life outcomes for individuals with disabilities. Her research also examines ways in which pedagogy, fieldwork education, and curriculum influence student learning and development in professional preparation programs. Dr. Craig’s work has been widely published in top journals in the field, and she has presented at national, regional, and local professional conferences.
Dr. Craig collaborates on research, evaluation, and policy initiatives with colleagues and graduate students in TR, recreation and leisure studies, adaptive sport, physical activity and physical education, public health, and veteran health. Her work enhances the role of recreation, TR, adaptive sport and physical activity in public health and community development.

Leadership & Professional Service
Dr. Craig’s leadership and professional association involvement has included service as the Chair of the NCTRC Research Committee and Research Grant Program, and member of the ATRA Higher Education Committee and Task Force that conducted the National Study of the Entry-level Degree in TR/RT. She is a Site Visitor for CARTE accreditation and served as President of the New England Therapeutic Recreation Association. She has been an Associate Editor for the ATRA Annual, and manuscript reviewer for numerous journals in TR, adaptive physical activity, and leisure studies. During her 26-year academic career, Dr. Craig has served on numerous professional committees and task forces.
Professional Awards & Recognition
Dr. Craig led a co-authored publication that was a Finalist for NART's Scholarly Manuscript Award sponsored by Sagamore-Venture Publishing in recognition of outstanding literary contribution to the profession of TR: Craig, P.., Hawkins, B.L., Anderson, L.S., Ashton-Forrester, C., & Carter, M.J. Dr. Craig received the Roger Ritvo Award from the UNH College of Health & Human Services honoring outstanding interdisciplinary faculty/student research collaboration for the project: "Physical activity participation at the nexus of social change: Exploring barriers and enablers of active living among persons with disabilities."
Dr. Craig was a funded Scholar in the UP-2-NIH Grant Training Program through UNH's Office of VP for Research, and a Faculty Scholar in the Research & Engagement Academy through UNH's Office of VP for Engagement & Academic Outreach.
